Money May Calls Out Pac-Man

Money May Calls Out Pac-Man

Love him or hate him and there’s no doubt, you fall into either one of those two categories with Floyd Mayweather…you have to admit, Money May is smart. In fact, brilliant in the way he markets himself. Tweeting pics of crazy betting slips and luxury sleds while on his way to the hole is great for his brand. But publicly calling out and busting up Manny Pacquiao is genius. And he just laid the Pac-man out in two simple tweets: “Manny Pacquiao I’m calling you out lets’ fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see. My jail sentence was pushed back because the date was locked in. Step up punk.” ‘Step up punk’ is the Twitter equivalent of dropping the mic and walking off. That’s a pretty serious left-right combo for a guy generally known for his slick defense and unwillingness to take any chances. And he scored huge with it. Never mind the 57,000 or so followers he added immediately after saying it, he’s backed Pacquiao up, against the ropes and he’s unable defend himself… What’s it going to be, Pac-man: are you going to fight Mayweather May 5th or not?? It’s the fight everyone wants to see... Even a judge said she was fine with Mayweather fighting first and then reporting to the cooler. For the longest time it looked like Mayweather was ducking Pacquiao now it looks like it’s the other way around.

Pacquiao Ducking Mayweather Now

Pacquiao Ducking Mayweather Now

It’s looking less and less like we’re going to get a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight, but more and more now like Pacquiao is the one holding it up. It appeared Mayweather was ducking Pacquiao but now it looks like it’s the other way around. Mayweather advisor Leonard Ellerbe and Golden Boy promotions CEO Richard Schaeffer both told ESPN.com they were notified by Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum that they’re not interested in negotiating. Arum told ESPN that he hasn’t said anything about a Mayweather fight, but admitted he’s pursuing another fight with Juan Manual Marquez.

Money May vs. Ortiz Prediction

Money May vs. Ortiz Prediction

You watch Floyd Mayweather bump his gums incessantly, then you’ll hear the story of how Victor Ortiz’s mother abandoned he and his siblings and his father abused them before leaving as well, and it’s hard not to pull for Ortiz tomorrow night in Vegas. Unfortunately, I just don’t see him pulling the upset. He’s younger, perhaps stronger and hungry.

Heavyweight Boxing

Don’t look now, but there’s actually a heavyweight championship fight taking place this weekend that matters. In fact, it’s probably the division’s most important fight since Lennox Lewis-Mike Tyson back in 2002. And easily, one of the sport’s most critical matchups. I’m talking Wladimir Klitschko v. David Haye, this Saturday in Hamburg, Germany. Critical, because you have the division’s biggest name defending his title against a challenger who has a belt of his own and is in his prime…and critical because of all the crazy noise Haye has made leading up to this fight.

Mayweather’s Gladiators

Mayweather’s Gladiators

In other boxing news, a Las Vegas man is suing Floyd Mayweather alleging ‘Money May’ went ‘Roman Coliseum’ in a Vegas parking lot. 21 year old Anthony Cliff says he was attacked, punched and kicked by Mayweather’s bodyguards in March of 2010. The claim alleges when they surrounded him, Floyd gave them a quote, “Thumbs down” gesture which was their sign to attack. What, like Caesar? Are they bodyguards or gladiators?

Step Your Game Up Money May

Step Your Game Up Money May

There may come a day when I stand here and burn on a Floyd Mayweather fight that I can’t wait to pay for and watch. But today is not that day. Floyd announced on Twitter he will be fighting Victor Ortiz in September saying, “My fans have been waiting long enough!” I think you mean your accountants, May. Because no one I know is saying, “C’mon, man!! How long do we have to wait for Mayweather-Ortiz? The only person on the planet who’s legitimately excited that you’re fighting Victor Ortiz…is Victor Ortiz. And maybe my man, Chris Mannix from S.I. Money May also says at this stage of his career, he’s looking for “Challenges.” You know what would be a great challenge? There’s this southpaw from the Philippines. He hits like a mule, is the best fighter in the world pound for pound, is a 8 time World Champion, in interested in politics and likes to dabble in singing. You know that guy, right? Look, I get that Ortiz is credible. He’s no can and he’s no Shane Mosely. Just don’t expect me to be any more pumped for this one than I am Pacquiao v. Juan Manual Marquez in the fall.
