U.S. Emailers Cracking On Canada

Quick memo to U.S. fans: “don’t be the ‘Ugly Americans’.” I’m talking about your ever predictable response to the loss: “the ‘yeah, whatever, Canada. Good for you. Just know we don’t care about hockey anyway’ card.”

Take the very first text message that came through to my radio program after the game! Someone from the 716 thumbed out the following: “first. And we don’t care Canada.” Great, because it’s not lame enough that people are claiming “first” on internet message boards, now texters to my radio program are doing the same.

And as far your not caring, that’s a lie. Maybe, that was true a month ago, but not now. Not after seeing the Americans win five in a row and get within a goal of winning it all. And you know you would have cared if you won.

Again, we might not love hockey as a nation the way Canada does, but we love talking smack. And you would have cared a whole lot if you won! Plus, the overnight TV ratings here suggest you did care…a lot. So, give them their due. Tip your hat to Canada, even if you think they are your hat.
