Bengals’ wide receiver Chris Henry has died as result of injuries he suffered while falling out of the back of a pick up truck, in what authorities describe as a domestic dispute with his fiancée. He was just 26. Terrible story involving a young guy, who despite having a “checkered past”, had worked hard to make better choices and turn his life around.
Which, he successfully had done in the past year and a half.
After repeated run-ins with the law and numerous suspensions, it looked like his career had come off the tracks completely. But even over the objections of Coach Marvin Lewis, Bengals’ ownership brought him back and gave him another opportunity. And opportunity he clearly appreciated and was making the most of. And he wasn’t just paying lip service to anyone, or telling people what they wanted to hear. He had done the hard work! And had turned his life around!
And now shockingly, and abruptly, it’s over.
What a stunning and tragic development for Henry’s family and the Bengals’ organization.
