You can hype the Super Bowl as the Revenge Bowl; I’ve certainly been talking about the Pats’ 2012 Bittermen’s Tour…just don’t ask Bill Belichick about the last time these two met for the ring. Because the smartest guy in the room is ignoring the elephant in the room. Because at least publicly, not only is he not using 2008 as motivation, he’s barely willing to acknowledge it even happened. Asked this week to reflect on David Tyree’s catch, the Hood said, if you want my opinion on it, you can look it up: “It was a long time ago. I have a lot of comments on the record after the game and everything else. You can go back and look at all the things that happened then or some other year.” Refer to your comments on record? In other words, don’t ask me what I think about it now, just go back and look up what I said at the time. Like, “uh, you can type my name into the Google machine or me-tube or whatever it’s called. I’m sure you can find what you’re looking for.” Right, Hood, and I’m sure those comments will be very insightful when we do. In fact, I did go back and look at what you had to say about Eli Manning’s miracle escape and completion to Tyree’s coconut and this is what I found: "you know, we had some pressure on him. But in the end they made those plays and we didn't. So, that's the difference in the game." Great.
How hard would it have been to just mumble that again yesterday. I don’t even know why I’m wasting my time. I don’t need to go back and look up your comments. I can just go back and look at the tape. And I have. And what I saw were some studs on the Giants d-line getting under the chin of your statue quarterback and blowing him up. And you can feel free to refer to these comments next Sunday night when they do it again.
