With the Internet on fire and burning out of control, and piracy, Peyton Manning and Wikipedia on everyone’s minds.
The trending topics were pretty predictable: #iftheyshutdowntwitter, #factswithoutwikipedia, Stop Sopa, Rob Lowe, Peyton Manning, Not Liberty. End Piracy. Wait.... What? Did I catch a Rob Lowe in there? Of course, standard op. You seen a random celeb in the rundown- and you’re terrified that he or she is no longer with us. Say it ain't so, Soda Pop! Turns out, not only is Bob Lowe alive and well, he's breaking news and scooping the sports media. He tweeted: "Hearing my fave #18 Peyton Manning will not return to #NFL. Wow. #Colts." See while I’ve been waiting on Schefty or Mort to thumb out that tweet... What I should have been doing is refreshing the timeline of my man from Parks and Rec and About Last Night. And his tweet was the perfect recipe for a viral tidalwave: A well known pop culture figure + a mainstream developing NFL story = Hundreds of thousands of snarky barbs and 80s resets. Andrew McCarthy hasn't been crow-barred into more punch lines since Weekend at Bernie's 2 dropped. I even fired some Anthony Michael Hall smack myself. I didn’t want to, but I couldn’t help myself. And neither could wacky Colts owner Jim Irsay. J, who didn’t exactly go high road, or high brow with tweet reference porn stars and circus clowns that I can even go with on the air. Thanks, NFL owner and CEO. Stay classy. And not funny.

The next thing Peyton says about his status will be the first; and until then, I’m going with Rob Lowe and his sources. You talk about a cool customer: this cat had that locked and loaded and brushed right by me at the Golden Globes without saying a single world. Cold blooded! My man, start working your sources on Mayweather-Pacquiao and hit me with a DM before you break it. Robert Lowe: the new king of all media.
