What a wild chain of events in Major League Baseball! Just when you think Philadelphia can’t get any tougher at the front end of their rotation, they swap out Cliff Lee for Roy Halladay, the guy they wanted all along. I like that a lot! Lee is filthy. Halladay is better!
Lee is one of the best pitchers in the bigs, Halladay is one of the best pitchers ever! And he’s more sign-able, crazy hungry, and he wants to be in Philly. Lee couldn’t make that commitment to the Phillies, or wouldn’t without Yankee money and now he’s gone. He ends up in Seattle where the Mariners are not only no longer an embarrassment to their community…they just busted the Angels in the mouth and with the 1-2 punch of Lee and Felix Hernandez. And, might even have the Yankees and Red Sox’s attention!
The Angels, meanwhile, are reeling. If they have a plan, I don’t see it. They were looking to lock up either Halladay or John Lackey…and lost both after losing Chone Figgins and Vladimir Guerrero might be next. And their only response thus far has been to sign Hideki Matsui to a one year deal. Awesome!
And don’t be looking to bring your glove, cap, or roller skates, ‘H’. You won’t be needing any of them! Because, even one day a week in left field would be one day too many.
