After not saying anything to anyone, for much of the year, Peyton Manning finally hit up the Indianapolis Star for an interview. And it doesn’t sound like he’s in a very good place. Among other things he says the Colts facility is quote, “not a very good place for healing”, adding, “I mean, it’s 20 degrees, it’s snowing, the building is absolutely empty except when you see coaches cleaning out their offices. I guess it’s the reality of the football world just not something I’ve had to deal with very often. But I’m in there every day, so I have to sit there and see it. Everybody’s being evaluated and I’m no different.”

It probably isn’t a very good place for healing? Then again, such a place probably doesn’t exist when you’re trying to heal from your third neck surgery in 19 months. And yes, that is the reality of the football world: of course you’re being evaluated: you more so than anyone else: you’re the guy who’s about to turn 36, coming off those three neck surgeries, with a $28 million dollar bonus hanging over their head, while the team readies itself to pull the trigger on Andrew Luck. In fact, you better hope they’re still evaluating and haven’t already made their decision, because if they have and it was good news, they would have already told you and the rest of the world. And if you think that’s not a good place to heal, just wait until little bro rolls in, blows by you and wins his second ring in your house. But credit for the sodapop Curtis blast: that was your best crackback since you laid out your quote, idiot kicker at the 2003 Pro Bowl.
