And as for an obit on the defending world champion Packers…look, I can’t say that I expected them to lose, but I’m not shocked they did. Everyone knew how dangerous the Giants were coming in. And while I won’t go all “defense wins championships” on you Packer fans, I will say, ‘playing no defense’ loses them. And against the Giants, the Packers dee did exactly what it’s done all season long. They got shredded. They didn’t wrap up on anyone, couldn’t get off the field and let Manning get way too comfortable. They rode shotgun all season long with that high octane offense and the one day when Aaron Rodgers and the fellas needed the dee to pick them up, they couldn’t do it.

But that’s a given. You can’t expect one of the worst defenses in the league to just throw the switch and start lining up three and outs when they hadn’t done it all year long. Yeah, I know, they gave up a lot of yards because teams fell behind and threw a lot. Right. And they completed a lot too. Look, I’m not putting it on all the dee: there’s plenty of blame to go around: they worked the entire season to get that game, in their house and then no showed. They turned it over four times and played by far their worst game of the year at the worst possible time. So seeing the Giants beat them wasn’t shocking, but seeing the Packers play that poorly was.
