Like I said yesterday, maybe the ankle wasn’t the reason Brett Favre couldn’t commit to the Vikings. Come to find out; it was the coach! Jason Cole, a columnist for Yahoo Sports writes, “…many players, particularly on offense, have no respect for (Brad) Childress. Among those players is Favre… according to multiple team sources, Favre’s disdain for Childress runs deep.” Ya think? The guy laughed at Childress when he tried to take him out of a game last year. And changes Childress’ plays at the line, of course, he doesn’t like or respect him. How bent do you think he was when he just showed up at his front door back in July. The gunslinger was probably like, “Deanna! Don’t answer the door. Everyone shut up. Maybe he’ll leave.”

Teammate Steve Hutchinson says Favre barely even mentioned his ankle when he, Jared Allen and Ryan Longwell went to get him. So this is definitely a coaching thing as opposed to an ankle thing. The question is, who are the guys with an ax to grind with Childress and why do it if there’s a chance it could torpoedo the team’s chances. Look, no one loves a good conspiracy theory more than me; maybe, it’s a player or two, who has a problem with both Favre and Childress and are looking to bring them both down, along with the team. Either way, Favre’s arrival in camp doesn’t mean this thing is over. In fact, it’s just starting. And it’s going to be good. Chilly couldn’t pull him out of Hattiesburg, but his teammates could. Forget liking him, but he does have to respect him. And he doesn’t.
