I’m having a real hard time seeing the Miami Heat lock down the big three: Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris bosh. Don’t get me wrong. James and Bosh look like a package deal and if they were smart, they’d take a little less to play with Wade. Great weather, no state income tax, a chance to play for Pat Riley, alongside Wade, and win a few rings. It’s a no brainer. But I don’t see it happening. Maybe, I’m not giving James enough credit, but I don’t see this guy wanting to play alongside anyone. Playing alongside Wade and having to join him, in his house isn’t in line with a guy who’s bent on becoming a global icon and a billionaire. Alpha dogs like that don’t gravy train anyone to anything. That’s just not good for his look. And while winning is important, it’s not as important as being the man. At least not to him. He’s not going to Miami. Two alpha dogs like James and Wade can’t co-exist either on or off the floor. That team and that town aren’t big enough for the two of them.

As bad an offseason as the Cavaliers have had, they still have a good shot at keeping James. Not because they have some great plan to pitch him… I mean could they look any more disorganized or dysfunctional than they do right now. But because he might just decide he really doesn’t want to leave and give them three more years and bust out again in 2012. But I have to ask, why would he want to stay? Hey King you’re on the clock, my man, you’re already seven years in and still looking for your first ring. Michael Jordan had already won one by then. (Kobe had 3). If you’re really going to become a global icon, slash billionaire, slash best ever, you better get going; you’re running out of time. And is there any reason to believe you’ll get one in the next three years if you do stay? Then you’ll be a decade in and ring less. Sure it’s comfortable and you’re deified there, but if you’re going to become the guy you say you want to be, you’re going to have to leave to do it. You’ve gone as far as you can in C-town. Go to Chicago try to follow in 45’s footsteps… in his house. You can’t live in your mom’s basement forever. Man up, swing the bat.
