You can’t tell me the ‘72 Dolphins weren’t looking to party and spray each other with Mums last night! That Jacksonville wasn’t going to knock Indy out and end their chance to run the table. That joint was rocking! David Garrard was channeling a mid 1990s Mark Brunell. That bowling ball in cleats “mojo” was bringing the lumber and Peyton Manning was on the sideline getting all tark with his towel.
It was all set up! That is until the Colts remembered they were the “Colts”. And did what they do…they came back…again! Give Peyton one more chance, and he’ll still kill you. Ask their defense to make one more play, and it will. And it did again last night!
That’s Jacob Lacey, picking Garrard…ballgame…showers…thanks for coming. Who’s next?! Standard operating procedure for the ‘09 Colts! They don’t dominate. They really don’t intimidate. They just don’t lose. And it certainly doesn’t hurt to have a little help from the other side. No names mentioned.
Jags’ free safety Reggie Nelson…
My man, I know tackling is so 1990’s…and if you have to use your arms to wrap up and bring a man down, that’s punk. But bro, the red zone is about preservation, not “posterization”. And you can’t have Dallas Clark ricochet off you right into the end zone.
Even worse, instead of trying to wrap up and bring Reggie Wayne down on the game winner, Nelson went for some crazy circus ball strip and came up empty. Thanks for all your help, Reg’, because last night the Colts needed it!
I’m still not convinced they’re the best team in the league. Most clutch, perhaps. But definitely beatable! Even if no one has…same goes for the Saints by the way.
