As for Lee Evans, right or wrong him, unless he does something really dramatic going forward, he’ll always be remembered for allowing Sterling Moore to swat the Super Bowl out of his hands. And to the question of - Was that a clutch defensive play by Moore or an un-clutch play by Evans... it's more the latter. No doubt, a great play by Moore, but dbs are always slapping at the rock the second it’s caught in the end zone. It just usually doesn’t come loose, because wideouts protect it with their lives. But Evans didn't. He looked like he was just playing soft toss catch during pregame, (and the next thing you know the Super Bowl is rolling around on the ground in the end zone and the ref is waiving it incomplete). And Raven fan, should it have been reviewed? Maybe, but if the officials could make the call that quickly off the replay, there’s no way they were changing it on a review. Besides, if Evans didn’t think it was a catch, neither should you. And the only person he was pointing the finger at afterwards was himself, saying he let everyone down.
Look at the bright side, Lee, at least you weren’t alone; kicker Billy Cundiff was saying the same thing after shanking that 32 yarder that would have sent the game into overtime. Again, I’m not sure what a former special teams coach like John Harbaugh was doing, rushing his kicker onto the field when he still had a timeout left, and a trip to the Super Bowl hanging in the balance. Then again, if Cundiff wasn’t right, he could’ve called timeout himself; and he didn’t. That guy is paid to make that kick. That’s his job. And he shanked it. And the only thing more shocking and more unforgivable than missing that kick, in that situation, was him palming the camera lense after he did it. I’ve seen a lot of bad perp walks but that was one of the worst.
