Boise St. has nothing to apologize for. Not their conference. Not their schedule. Not for beating Oklahoma on a trick play. And not for blowing a 17 point lead and not hammering Virginia Tech. Not only do they have nothing to apologize for, they’re not getting the credit they deserve. They just did a top ten team, for all intents and purposes in their house and overcame crazy adversity to do it. Photos: Heisman Hopeful Kellen Moore And don’t tell me, that since they play in the WAC, they needed to beat Virginia Tech down to get into the conversation. That’s wrong. They finished two of the last four years unbeaten, capping both seasons with wins in the Fiesta Bowl. And while they don’t play as many big games in season as some of the other factories, they usually win the ones they do. And they did last night, with a last minute drive, in a hostile environment, not with some Statue of Liberty Jedi mind trick or Fumblerooskie. They beat Tech straight up. And if they continue to win impressively every single week, they better be in the National Championship discussion. And to deny them a shot if they are unbeaten reeks of arrogance, and myopia. How can you say they’re not worthy when you won’t give them a chance to prove they are. And without a playoff, they may not get that chance because if you’re not on the BCS invite list, you’re getting stoned at the door. What are you afraid of; that they’ll funk little program with the blue turf is going to crash your party, drink your beer and leave with your women. You think they’ll get embarrassed; great; if they keep winning, give them the opportunity to prove you right. Or just institute a playoff, then there is not controversy. Just a way to determine a true National Champion, like everyone else. |
